The floor of this bed will remain 10 to 15 degrees above ambient air temperature and will warm to a comforting 102 degrees when in use.

Why only 102°F when in use? Any warmer and your pet won't use it. 102°F is the ideal body temperature for cats and dogs. Since a pet's fur acts as an insulator, K&H products have a thermostat that senses when the unit reached this temperature and maintains it for maximum pet comfort.
