DOG RAMPS

Dog ramps and dog stairs are useful for aging pets. Smaller dogs will also benefit from the use of dog stairs or a dog ramp as they have a hard time reaching the most desirable napping spots such as your bed! Dog ramps and dog stairs allow both aging and small dogs to navigate steep inclines and high resting spots with ease.

Aging dogs may find getting into the front seat of a vehicle or on to the couch to be a difficult chore and even painful. Dog ramps and dog stairs are the perfect solution. Aging bones and joints mean your doggie’s jumping days may be over so helping your furry companion reach the places he can no longer get to is a great option.

When selecting dog stairs you will want to consider a couple of things. Dog stairs are primarily considered for indoor use and are designed with two, three and even four steps that are made to support up to 250 pounds. Dog stairs are typically designed to be portable so they are lightweight enough to be moved from one location to another. Many times you can find dog stairs priced just right so you can purchase them for every spot your good ole doggy needs them.

Older dog’s joints that are affected by arthritis may have difficulty maneuvering the stairs and that is when a pet ramp would be a smarter choice. Dog ramps can be used indoors or outdoors. There are several different types of ramps that you can choose from. A stationary dog ramp gives your pet the ability to get to that most comfy place on your couch. Some are solid, sturdy ramps that vary in length to meet your pet’s needs. There are also telescoping dog ramps that extend and contract which can be very useful if you will be moving it into several different locations. Folding dog ramps are available as well and most useful for that dog on the go. Or should we say human pet on the go!

Still not certain which would work best for your precious pooch. Here are a few tips on how to choose between a dog ramp and dog stairs. First, consider the design - if your dog has trouble with stairs then obviously a ramp would be your best bed. If you are just looking for a way for your dog to reach his favorite spot on your couch dog stairs would be just fine. If you are planning on moving your ramp around go for the lightweight option. If your dog is heavy then you will want to opt for a ramp that will accommodate his weight. If your dog goes everywhere with you then a portable ramp would be most advantageous to your needs. Telescoping ramps often work well because they are so versatile and can adjust to so many different locations.

Your senior doggy will appreciate the effort and relief you have provided for them in getting a new dog ramp. And not to leave out the little guy, your small pet will love the new found freedom he has when able to reach places not with a single bound but a couple of stairs!
